By 2025, the environmental and/or social footprint of BIC® products will be improved. 
Our goal is to deploy a comprehensive eco-design process in each of our categories, taking into account environmental and societal dimensions and guiding sustainable innovation. An evaluation tool incorporating criteria such as the use of alternative materials or low plastic consumption has been designed to allow the evaluation of all BIC® products and the improvement of their environmental performance. As we continue our journey towards the circular economy, we have added two commitments in 2020

• By 2030, BIC aims to use 50% recycled or alternative plastic for its products, with a target of 20% by 2025
• By 2025, 100% of our plastic consumer packaging will be reusable, recyclable or compostable.

By 2025, BIC will use 100% renewable electricity.

We are seeking to reduce the Group's greenhouse gas emissions through the purchase of renewable energy and we explore the possibility of generating renewable electricity on site. We met our target of 80% in 2021 and have updated this target to operate with 100% renewable electricity by 2025.

In addition, we actively encourage all of our teams to get involved and be mindful of their energy consumption.

By 2025, BIC aims for zero accidents on its sites. 

This ambition integrates the dimensions of safety, health and well-being in the workplace, at all levels. It is based on a further intensification of our internal policies and safety culture in all our operations.

It includes the implementation of specific local actions, such as clearly defined objectives, the scaling up of health and safety processes and increased employee involvement.

Between now and 2025, BIC will continue to work responsibly with its strategic suppliers to ensure the safest, most innovative and most efficient sourcing.

BIC will identify its "strategic suppliers" based on criteria related to innovation, financial aspects and safety. As a first step, BIC conducted a comprehensive mapping of its suppliers based on social, environmental and regulatory factors. Action plans have been developed and implemented to monitor and mitigate potential risks, while strengthening supplier relationships.

By 2025, BIC will improve learning conditions for 250 million children worldwide.

BIC aims to help children succeed in school by providing better learning conditions and promoting the developmental benefits of handwriting. As a company involved in education, our goal is to expand our positive impact with a more coordinated approach.
