BIC is committed to ensuring that its facilities, including both factories and offices, operate in an environmentally responsible way and strives to reduce the impact of its manufacturing operations and optimize product shipping. BIC exerts strong environmental control over its entire supply chain and favors in-house production over contract manufacturing: 91% of the Group’s net sales are generated by products manufactured in its own factories.

The Group is aware of the environmental impact of its production activities and is committed to minimizing it. While demand for raw materials is mainly determined by product design, BIC’s factories are tasked to optimize water and energy consumption, as well as reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and waste production.

BIC's Packaging Evolution

Circular Economy Journey

BIC’s approach to products and packaging is based on our 4R philosophy, inspired by the principles of the circular economy to change the linear ”take-make-dispose” model into a new way of designing products to keep them in use and prevent them to become waste or generate pollution.

Reducing the number of raw materials used to make our products, including as many recycled or alternative materials as possible, making more refillable products, and improving the recyclability of our products and packaging will contribute to making our economy more circular.
